I've
been training and competing in Agility since 1994. All of the dogs
that I've personally had the pleasure to train and live with are
on my Team Members page of this site. As you can see it is a bit
of a variety of breeds!
I
believe that working several different breeds of both the large
and small size help to give me a wide range of skills in my toolbox
to accomodate their needs. This goes for training many dogs as well,
as each one is so completely different from the other - just when
you think you've got it sorted out - a new and different personality
provides challenges in new areas!
I've
competed at 3 different National level AKC competitons with my Pom
Tippi (good thing about little dogs is that they can fly in cabin!).
These are qualifying events where you must be able to meet the requirements
before entering. I've achieved a MACH title on my Pom (Master Agility
Champion) which is the highest level title that one can attain in
AKC competition. All of my dogs have reached at least the AX, AXJ
title level in AKC (Agility Excellent & Agility Excellent Jumper).
None of this of course has any meaning without the love and dedication
of my wonderful teammates as you can read about on my teammates
page.
I
also compete in USDAA and have qualified for the World Championships
in 2007 and 2008 with my Aussie Levi. (see Levi's page under Teammates
for his accomplishments), DOCNA and NADAC venues are fun arenas
where I enjoy starting my young dogs off. There have been competitions
that I've entered as far east as Massachusetts and as west as Utah
(okay that's not THAT far west but we're working on California still!)
but we are fortunate to have ALOT of trials here in Colorado that
can keep someone very busy and many more in our neighboring states
that can make up a fun weekend trip as well!
All
in all - I like to be sure that FUN is the top priority. Motivating
the dogs by play and praise to accomplish the tasks that we ask
of them - then build on each obstacle till we are able to complete
an entire course!
I
look forward to working with you! |
